The successful applicant will be required to:
Health & Safety Leadership
• Lead the development, implementation, and review of the ETB’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with statutory obligations under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act and associated regulations.
• Coordinate risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections across all ETB schools and centres.
• Liaise with external consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies on H&S matters.
• Provide guidance and support to school principals and centre managers on H&S issues.
• Oversee incident reporting, investigation processes, and corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver H&S awareness and training programmes for staff.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness across all schools and centres, including fire safety, critical incident procedures, and the scheduling and review of emergency drills.
• Provide LOETB-wide oversight and support for higher-risk subject areas and learning environments (e.g. science labs, woodwork/engineering workshops, home economics, and hazardous substances management).
• Coordinate occupational health risk management, including ergonomics, DSE assessments and workplace adjustments. Governance & Compliance
Governance & Compliance
• Provide independent assurance on H&S governance and internal controls.
• Support the development of a compliance framework aligned with legislation and best practice.
• Advise management on emerging H&S issues and innovative solutions.
• Work closely with Head of Corporate Services where necessary on all governance and compliance issues. Administrative & Strategic Support
Administrative & Strategic Support
• Provide administrative support to the Head of Buildings in delivery of capital works, maintenance, and property management.
• Create and maintain databases and systems to enhance efficiency.
• Participate in strategic planning and contribute to organisational development
• Approve and oversee processing of payments, invoices, and financial reconciliations.
• Contribute to strategic planning within the Buildings Department, particularly in relation to H&S and compliance.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for senior management and external agencies.
• Represent the ETB at relevant meetings, working groups, and forums Staff Management
Staff Management
• Assist with the line management of administration staff member(s), providing supervision, guidance, and performance management.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure workload is balanced and aligned with departmental priorities.
• Support professional development and training for administrative staff.
